In an interview with The Brody File, Mike Huckabee says being an evangelical Christian is not a “political position” for him and says whatever happens in a presidential run he knows one thing: The scripture is the word of God. Haven’t changed that. Regardless of the elections, I won’t.”
Huckabee made these comments to me in a one-on-one interview we did near Des Moines, Iowa last weekend at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition event. He’s set to announce his presidential plans Tuesday in Hope, Arkansas.
There will be a lot of competitors for the evangelical vote. Huckabee will have company (Cruz, Jindal, Walker, Perry, Rubio, Paul, Carson etc) so this is no slam-dunk for the ex-pastor. Still, Huckabee’s communication skills and likeability factor make him the evangelical vote frontrunner at this point.
