Despite what a bishop in Africa has declared, according to Jesus Christ — the head of the body of Christ, “Pastor” Paula White is living in adultery.
I am a mature saint of many years. I am the sometimes happy wife of my first and only husband and I have my own ministry. In my 46 years of marriage, the truth is there have been many times when the bishop and I wanted to go our separate ways. And, of course, the devil is constantly trying to destroy our marriage and family of six. But we stayed together because we fear the following words uttered by Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:32: “Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
We take Jesus’ words literally and seriously. It’s one thing to commit adultery and recover from it, but it is a scary thing to live in adultery.
Here is what that verse means according to the Bible Knowledge Commentary by John F. Walvoord, Roy B. Zuck:
Among the Jewish leaders, were two schools of thought regarding the matter of divorce. Those who followed Hillel said it was permissible for a husband to divorce his wife for any reason at all, but the other group (those following Shammai) said divorce was permissible only for a major offense. In His response, the Lord strongly taught that marriage is viewed by God as an indissoluble unit and that marriages should not be terminated by divorce. The “exception clause,” except for marital unfaithfulness, is understood in several ways by Bible scholars. Four of these ways are: (a) a single act of adultery, (b) unfaithfulness during the period of betrothal, (c) marriage between near relatives, or (d) continued promiscuity.
We are praying for Paula White, her three families, and all of the adulterers and adulteresses in churches and in the world to repent.
