Daniel Whyte III

This podcast is designed to explain what it means to be saved from sin and from the punishment of sin through Jesus Christ. This podcast is primarily for non-believers and some new believers and it will help you understand what it means to be saved from hell and have a home in Heaven as well as the blessings of the abundant Christian life.

God made salvation simple. However, down through the years many people, including some preachers and other Christians, have made the matter of salvation complicated and confusing. I know from my own experience that many people would get saved if someone would sit down and share with them straightforwardly from the Bible what it really means to accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour. That is what I intend to do with this podcast.

The Bible says in John 8:31-32: “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Today’s God’s Great Salvation quote is from Max Lucado. He said: “Though the Bible was written over sixteen centuries by at least forty authors, it has one central theme — salvation through faith in Christ.”

Our topic today is titled Disciples Come In All Shapes and Sizes (Part 2) from the book, “So Great Salvation: What it Means to Believe in Jesus Christ” by Dr. Charles Ryrie.

Today, we are looking at The Variety of Disciples

The word disciple itself means “learner or pupil.” It always involves a teacher-student relationship. John the Baptist had his disciples, the Pharisees had theirs, and Paul had his.

Our Lord had many. Some learned only for a time, then defected and left Him. On Palm Sunday a multitude of disciples followed the Lord, but by the end of the week most of them had also defected. Some were believers. One at least, Joseph of A-rim-a-thea, was a secret disciple for some time. A few belonged to an inner circle of intimate friends. Our Lord expected discipleship to involve strict commitment. But that does not always happen in the lives of all disciples.

So disciples come in all shapes and spiritual conditions.
