A college professor, already stunned by the anger over her article that criticizes Islam, says her faith is sustaining her during the backlash.
Vanderbilt professor Dr. Carol Swain tells OneNewsNow she is still receiving harassing emails and Facebook posts, including racial and sexual slurs,
The Tennessean newspaper published a January 15 op-ed written by Swain in which she criticized Islam after the terrorist attack at the Paris newspaper, Charlie Hebdo.
“More and more members of the PC crowd,” Swain wrote, “now acknowledge that Islam has absolutely nothing in common with Christianity, nor is it a worthy part of the brotherhood of man I long felt was characteristic of the Abrahamic religions.”
The university’s Muslim Student Association organized a protest of several hundred students and faculty, who denounced Swain for “hate speech.”
Swain, a born-again Christian, teaches political science and law at Vanderbilt, which has approximately 12,000 students.
