2 Corinthians 4:3-4: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
We ended our last lesson talking about how the kingdom of Satan is opposed to the kingdom of God. Today, we are going to look at our final topic on Satan in this series by discussing what Satan is trying to do with his kingdom.
Our key Bible passage calls Satan “the god of this world” and it goes on to tell us that he has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the truth of the gospel of Christ and be saved from their sins. Matthew Poole writes, “It is the devil who is here called the god of this world, because he ruleth over the greatest part of the world, and many in it are his servants and slaves…” Satan is doing everything in his power to prevent people from understanding the gospel and giving their lives to Jesus Christ.
In the world today, almost two thousand years after Christ died for our sins, there are still millions of people who have never once heard the name of Jesus. They cannot be saved without hearing about the Lord Jesus Christ, but if Satan has his way, these people will never hear the name of Jesus, the Saviour who died for their sins. When he cannot keep people from hearing the Gospel, Satan uses a different approach. He tries to blind their minds so that they will not believe it as our passage indicates.
Satan is a great deceiver. The Bible calls him the father of lies. He deceives many people into believing that the Bible is not really the Word of God. He does not mind if people think of him as an imaginary character and laugh at the idea of his being a real person. He does not mind this because it suits his purposes very well.
One way that Satan deceives people is through false religions. Satan deceives millions of people into putting their trust in their own good works, or in their church membership, or in some religious ordinance or ceremony instead of putting their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for their sins.
Satan is a powerful and cunning enemy, and he has many followers. At times, he even appears to have great success in his battle against the people of God. We might ask, “Why doesn’t God destroy Satan since He has the power to do so?” The answer to this question is that it is not God’s will to do so at this time. But one day God will deal with Satan. His destiny has already been determined. Satan will be cast into the lake of fire where he will be punished forever. The Bible says in Revelation 20:10, “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
Likewise, those who choose to believe Satan’s lies and to remain in his kingdom of darkness will also be cast into the lake of fire. The Bible says in Revelation 20:15, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 21:8 says, “But the fearful, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
While he has a chance, Satan also attempts to deceive believers and keep them from fully living out God’s plan for their lives. How can we keep from being deceived by Satan? We can keep from being deceived by Satan by knowing the truth of God’s Word. The Lord Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” We must never put our trust in anything other than Jesus Christ and His blood which was shed for our sins. The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 1:8, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
We must dedicate ourselves to reading, understanding, and memorizing the Word of God so that we will not be deceived by Satan’s lies. Although Satan is a powerful enemy, we can have the victory over him in our everyday life if we do as Jesus Christ did and combat his temptations with the Word.

If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Saviour, John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and I want to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, I declare to you that based upon the Word of God, you are now saved from Hell and you are on your way to Heaven. Welcome to the family of God! I want to congratulate you on doing the most important thing in life and that is receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Until next time, May the Lord Bless You!
